adventures of an american housewife in the south of france

21st Century Baby Shower

What do you do when your only little sister is having a baby shower and you live over 4,000 miles away?  Surprise Skype in, of course!  Thanks to 21st century technology, living on a different continent than your family isn't so bad.  After several test runs earlier in the week (first I could see Mom but not hear her, then she could hear me, but not see me) we finally got Skype up and running at Shady Hollow Country Club where my sister's baby shower was held.

It was so nice to be in attendance as my sister opened all of her gifts and to see all of our family and friends that traveled to come celebrate the impending arrival of my newest nephew, Brighton Victor.

so excited to "be" at the shower

The shower invitation asked that instead of a card, guests sign their name to a book to help build Brighton's library.  The Hub and I purchased the adorable, Everybody Bonjours the last time we were in Paris.

I can't wait for the day when I can hold Brighton in my lap and tell him all about living in France.  I have some experience being an aunt and I absolutely love it!  It's the greatest job.  I grew up with so many loving and encouraging aunts and hope I can be the kind of aunt who both my nephews can confide in and go to for advice. I can't wait to meet you, Brighton!!

P.S. Thank you to everyone who gave me ideas for baby shower games!  Brighton's nursery and the shower are  jungle themed, so they ended up playing "Name the Baby Animal" and "Baby Shower Bingo"
