FOMO

You all know what FOMO is, right?  I like to think my friends and I made up the term, but I'm not really sure.  Regardless, I've had a bad case of the FOMOs lately. The whole purpose of the blog is to document our time here, both the good and the bad, so I feel like I need you all to know that while we are loving our experience here, it's not all amazing vacations and delicious food.  Sometimes I get homesick....

Italian Road Trip: Riomaggiore, Firenze, Siena, Torino

I almost don't want to finish and hit "publish" on this post because then that means that the trip has been taken, the pictures uploaded, the entry written, and our time in Italy is really over.  For now.  I think the best part about our nearly 2,000 km road trip was realizing how close Italy really is.  It only takes about 5-6 hours to get to the border (depending on what part) and now that we know The Pony can...

A Pony of Our Very Own

As I've been writing all these posts on our recent travels, I realized I haven't told you much about how we've been getting around.  Within a few months of moving to Montpellier, we  decided we wanted to look into the idea of buying a car.  There was so much to see that was right at our fingertips and we wanted more flexibility than the train could offer.  Plus, we love road trips.  You guys know that. We...

I’m Still Here!

Hello lovely friends!  Just a quick note to let you all know that I'm still here.  We've had a crazy busy month traveling and visiting with friends and I can't wait to tell you all about it.  We spent this weekend doing absolutely n-o-t-h-i-n-g and it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed after this whirlwind of a start to 2012. We'll be hanging here in Montpellier until early February when I am heading...

Florence City Guide: Dos, Don’ts, Eats

You know how when people talk about trips to Italy and then they're like, "It was magical!  Dreamy!  So romantic! Amazing food!" and you're all, "Shut up, I hate you.  I want to go to Italy."  Disclaimer:  that's what's about to happen.  Because Italy was awesome. There were days I thought I'd never be done with this first post about our trip, but finally, it's finished!  We spent the majority of the time...

Hump Day: Italian Aperitivo

During our road trip through Italy, I became pretty obsessed with the Italian tradition of the Aperitivo Hour(s).  Usually between about 5-7pm, many bars and cafés will offer a variety of free finger foods with your pre-dinner drink.  We had a great time munching on the little bruschettas, mozzerella, marinated artichokes, and crudités.  While I bounced back and forth night after night between Prosecco and...

2012: The Beginning

Happy New Year everyone! We had a very nice, low key evening celebrating New Year's Eve at a friend's house, raclette style.  Raclette is a semi-firm, cow's milk cheese that is melted, served with slices of meat and boiled potatoes, and eaten with white wine.  I've only ever seen raclette served at restaurants using this table-side, electrical contraption: Little did I know that you can buy your own...
