Hump Day: Single Serve Wine

I am the type of person that, when I open a bottle of wine, I intend to finish it.  The taste of a wine can change so quickly as it aerates and I am way too big of a snob to drink wine that was opened the night before.  This can cause a bit of a problem when The Hub is not around, because then I am often faced with the task of either having dinner without wine (gasp!) or drinking an entire bottle of wine alone.  I'm not above drinking a whole bottle of wine myself...I may have already done that this week...but it's not something I like to do every night.  I'm almost 30 for pete's sake, my body can't handle that anymore.

trop mignon!

That's why I am loving these little single serve bottles of wine here in Montpellier!  A normal bottle is 75 cl, while these bottles above are 25 cl and 37.5 cl respectively.  Yes, half or mini bottles are available in the U.S., but they are usually Sutter Home or some other horrible brand of wine that should only be used in cooking.  The little bottles available here are often smaller versions of some of my favorites like the Listel rosé and I can pick them up at any corner store.

And the real beauty of these drinking these single serve bottles alone?  If I get through one and need to open another, there is no one here but me to judge!

Happy Hump Day, friends!

Hello, if you are in montpellier for independence day, we’re having a very wine based party at Trinque Fougasse, with food and song that’s completely traditional for the event–they are cooking and I am pouring and singing. Let us know if you can come.
    Yours,
    John
