Hump Day: K&L Wine Club Chardonnay

Sometimes I drink white wine.  Really!  It's true.  I know it doesn't seem like it since I am yet to feature a white wine in any of my Hump Day posts, but I do enjoy the occasional white.  Most of my whites come from the K&L Best Buy Wine Club, which is a fantastic deal.  For $19.95/month (plus shipping and tax) you get a mid-range bottle of red and a bottle of white plus a newsletter containing a brief history of the vineyard from which it came.  You can also re-order any of the wines at a discounted price.  Through this club, I've been able to try lots of new wines, like the wine we had on Monday night:  2009 Domaine Begude “Terroir” Vin de Pays d’Oc

Monday was another HOT one in San Francisco, around 78°.  The Hub and I decided to celebrate our Indian Summer by grilling up some Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Black Bean Salad and corn on the cob.  We figured we needed a nice white to pair with this spicy, summertime meal.  The 2009 Domaine Begude “Terroir” Vin de Pays d’Oc was a perfect complement.  It has a rather crisp taste for a Chardonnay with notes of pear and a touch of oak.  Located in the foothills of the Pyrennes, Domaine Begude is ecologically responsible winery, using organic materials and sustainable practices.  It is an easy drinking wine that can be paired with almost any summer meal.
