We finally made it back to The Hub's homeland - Waunakee, Wisconsin,
the only Waunakee in the world! After a slight delay in O'Hare (to which the pilot said, "Sorry about the delay -
it's a Chicago thing") we landed in Madison at 10am yesterday morning. I think I've already gained 15 pounds. Between all of my mother-in-law's delicious cookies and my father-in-law's amazing meals, I'm already having trouble zipping up my pants. I hope Santa is bringing me leggings.
a million cookies
apricots and sage wrapped in bacon
fish tacos
Last night we braved the 25-degree weather and headed out to
Crystal Corner in Madison to catch up with old friends. One of the things I love about visiting Madison is drinking New Glarus' beers!
New Glarus is a local brewery located in New Glarus, WI, that brews a delicious farmhouse ale called Spotted Cow (their most well known brew) plus many other year round and seasonal flavors. I have always enjoyed the Spotted Cow and Moon Man. This summer I got to try the Totally Naked Lager. And last night I tried one of their winter flavors,
Back 40.

This medium bodied, dark beer is a Wisconsin Bock and was just what the doctor ordered for the cold and snowy night! Tonight we'll be hitting a bar crawl with friends coming in from all over the country and I can't wait to knock back another (or a few) Back 40s.
My two favorite things in WI -spotted cow and cheese curds.
