The Haute Housewife Moves to France!
For the last few weeks I have been hinting at a big announcement and I think it is finally time to share it. After nearly a year of persistence, hard work and patience, we finally made it happen…on April 22nd, Michael, Fig and I are moving to Montpellier, France!
Living abroad has been a huge goal of ours, both as individuals before we met, and now as a family. Michael and I have been talking about and planning this adventure since he started working for a French company in 2007. But before we could get to Step 2: Living Abroad, we had to take care of Step 1: Getting Married. After our July 2009 wedding, we took our time getting back into our normal routine. Then in February 2010, we went on our belated 3-week honeymoon trip to Thailand. We had such an amazing experience traveling around and immersing ourselves in the culture of another country. It was during this trip that Michael and I turned to each other said- ok, we’re finally ready to make this next step happen!
Those of you who are part of our daily lives understand that it was not a quick and easy road to today! After we got back from Thailand in March 2010, Michael formally expressed his interest to his company in moving to their worldwide headquarters in Paris. We’ve been through several rounds of “almost” opportunities and have explored positions in Sweden, Singapore and France. It’s been a rollercoaster of ups and downs over the last year trying to make this move happen but I am really excited about where we have ended up.
In 5 short weeks I am going back to being a Haute Housewife – and this time in every sense of the word. I am thrilled, nervous, stressed, freaked out, and overjoyed. I can’t wait to share this adventure with you all – the challenges, the travels, the culture, the FOOD! It is sure to be a wild ride and I hope you will all follow along as we close our eyes and jump into this next exciting step in our lives.
