Last week in D.C., I attended Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's "
Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on the National Mall. The purpose of the rally, which was not affiliated with any particular ideology, was to gather the "Busy Majority" who do not usually have time to go to rallies and are sick and tired of media taking every issue to the political extreme.
The rally was....crowded. CBS News estimated that 215,000 people showed up! Due to the crowds, taking the Metro was not a possibility so we ended up walking the 3+ miles from Devon's house to the National Mall. It was really cool to see so many people gathered who just want to get the straight facts and be well informed on issues without interference from the Glenn Beck's of the world.
massive crowds
Our hosts, Jon and Stephen, bantered on stage and introduced many special guests including Cat Stevens, Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Tweedy, Mavis Staples, Tony Bennett and more. Even though we only hear about 85% of what was going on from our spot on the lawn and saw even less, it was still a very unifying experience.
The best part of the rally was all the clever signs we saw. Here are just a few of my favorites that I was able to capture during our walk in:
And my personal favorite:
You can check out more hilarious signs from the rally

So have you checked out http://dateray.com/ — it’s “interesting” to say the least as Ray as looking for a polygamous LTR with a bisexual…
i saw a “dateray.com” in the making at starbucks yesterday…i seriously wanted to ask if they were related!
