Georgetown Cupcakes

The cupcake craze seems to be coming to a close here in San Francisco (we have moved onto doughnuts now) but as you can see from the picture below, it is alive and well in Washington D.C.!

During my Halloween trip to visit my bff Devon, we made a stop at Georgetown Cupcake...more than once!  Founded by two sisters in early 2008, this adorable cupcakerie rose to fame after winning D.C.'s 2008 Cupcake War and even has its own reality show on TLC called D.C. Cupcakes.  With flavors like Salted Caramel, Honey Banana, and Chocolate Hazelnut, it's easy to see why customers are lined up on the street everyday to get a taste of these sweet treats.  We waited about 20 minutes to place our order and it was worth it!  The cupcakes were moist, light and full of amazing flavor.

Don't they look perfect?  I have to say that my favorite was the Pumpkin Spice.  It was the perfect amount of pumpkin taste with a decadent maple frosting.  I would have loved to try the Salted Caramel, but that flavor is only offered on Tuesdays. Devon's boyfriend went back to get some surprise Halloween cupcakes for her 30th birthday.  Look how adorable they turned out!

So what do you think, are you still into cupcakes?  What are your favorite flavors?
