Simple French Dessert: Gâteau au Yaourt

Our friends Jill and Aaron has us over on Sunday for a fabulous dinner and to spend some time with their adorable little nugget, Dezi.  Isn't he a doll?  He is such a good baby and Jill and Aaron are an awesome parenting team.  It was so great to watch them take turns caring for their son as dinner was organized- they make it look so easy!  Jill prepared a beautiful dinner of Kale and Olive Bruschetta,...

French Immersion: Coq au Vin

In the spirit of embracing our move to France, I have been trying my hand at a few classic French dishes, like the Salmon en Papillote.  Last weekend I decided to make Coq au Vin for The Hub, Kate and Shawn. Do you think it's beautiful?  Well you better, because it took me almost SIX HOURS to make it.  It was a labor of love that was really, really delicious.  The French sure know how to develop flavor...

FAQ and French Bed Beard

Happy Friday everyone!  Thank you all so much for your kind words of support as we embark on this new step in our lives.  We've had lots of questions come up from friends and family in the last few weeks and we thought it would be fun to address them on the blog.  If there is anything else you want to know about our move, just ask! What does The Hub do? Besides being an awesome husband, he does marketing...

The Haute Housewife Moves to France!

For the last few weeks I have been hinting at a big announcement and I think it is finally time to share it.  After nearly a year of persistence, hard work and patience, we finally made it happen…on April 22nd, Michael, Fig and I are moving to Montpellier, France! Living abroad has been a huge goal of ours, both as individuals before we met, and now as a family.  Michael and I have been talking about and...

Hump Day: Taste of the Caribbean

Yesterday we had our Monthly Office Happy Hour at work.  It's nice to work at a place where events like Happy Hour are valued and given a 4:00 time slot.  I was in charge of bringing this month's cocktail and, still feeling like the new girl, wanted to make something that my co-workers would really like.  It's been gray, dreary and rainy here in SF the last few weeks, so I thought a fun island drink like these...

Super Sad True Book Club

The only thing super sad about this month's book club is that I didn't read the book, Super Sad True Love Story:  A Novel by Gary Shteyngart.  Jillian picked this book about a May-December romance set in futuristic NYC and I actually can't wait to read it at some point.  Everyone really enjoyed it, but between work, play and the fact that I'm working through a 900 page John Irving novel, I just didn't have time...

Weekend in Pictures

We had a great weekend of hanging out with friends and getting a lot done around the house.  Despite the fact that I managed to both slice my finger open and fall and skin my knee, the hardest part of my weekend was losing an hour of sleep.  Here are some of my favorite moments of the last few days:  Hope everyone's weekend was just as lovely.

Doctors and Bed Beard

I'm happy to report that Fig is going to be just fine!  He spent yesterday at Dr. Sams Clinic in Marin County, who my vet said is one of the best Veterinary Orthopedic Surgeons in the country.   The clinic was very large and clean and the staff was super friendly.  Obviously they fell in love with Fig instantly.   Who could resist this adorable, Bed Beardy face? Dr. Sams explained to me that in many...

Richard Goes Crazy and a Shrimp-Quinoa Salad

Before I get into today's recipe, I just have to share a few thoughts on last night's episode of  Top Chef, which is obviously one of my favorite shows.  I've seen every season (including Top Chef Masters) except for the D.C. season.  I love, love, love Richard Blais.  I think he is the best chef who has ever been on the show, period.  Game Over.  When you think about what makes someone a "Top Chef", Richard...

Hump Day: Sassy Malbec

My apologies for being so MIA lately!  These last few weeks at work have been very busy which, after 7 months of unemployment, I'm actually really enjoying!  I've also been lucky to have lots of friends in town lately, so between work and play, I haven't had lot of time for blogging.  But don't you worry, I am not going anywhere anytime soon. ( I know you were concerned.) During all this playtime, The Hub and I...
