The cupcake craze seems to be coming to a close here in San Francisco (we have moved onto doughnuts now) but as you can see from the picture below, it is alive and well in Washington D.C.!
During my Halloween trip to visit my bff Devon, we made a stop at Georgetown Cupcake...more than once! Founded by two sisters in early 2008, this adorable cupcakerie rose to fame after winning D.C.'s 2008 Cupcake War and...

A few years ago The Hub and I took a very memorable weekend road trip on the California coast. We toured the Hearst Castle, visited several wineries in Paso Robles, saw some hilarious elephant seals, hiked in Big Sur, visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium and much more! We took this trip over President's Day 3-day weekend, and it was such a fun, low-key way to experience a local vacation.
We left after...

Last week in D.C., I attended Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on the National Mall. The Grand Canyon National Park is a 2 - 2.5 hour drive from Sedona and is something that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime! Going to the Grand Canyon during January was an interesting experience. It was a little bit like going to Disney World in the middle of the night when the rides are closed and no one is there: quiet, a little bit eerie, but just as majestic. Even though the north side...

A few years ago, The Hub (or, the BF at the time) and I took a 5 day trip to Arizona for his 30th birthday. We had a fantastic time hiking in Sedona and touring the Grand Canyon. We went over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, which may seem like a strange time to take that type of trip, but for us it was perfect! We had a long weekend which allowed us to take less time off of work, the weather was temperate (for...

When I first moved to California, my family was surprised by my enthusiasm for camping. Weren’t there bugs? Don’t you have to sleep on the ground? But California has so many amazing places to pitch your tent that these drawbacks are easily overlooked. Besides, there’s lots of ways you can camp and still be haute.
First, I recommend a big tent and an airbed. Bring along a regular set of sheets and...
